The 'sophisticated' answer would be that it was somewhere we had long thought about visiting, and that it intrigued us to see first-hand a country that was very much a remnant of post-1945 Communism yet was projecting itself as a future mecca of decidedly Capitalist tourism.
In reality the answer is much less 'sophisticated': a speculative Saga email last November caught us at a time when the weather was dire, and we were feeling down and in need of a treat to look forward to. We'd never been anywhere with Saga, but knew people who had and had good things to say of it, so we thought 'Why not?'.
So.... if we were going, when?
Why not February and be there for Steve's birthday?
And a 'chance' remark by Steve to our Saga rep. led to
....which that evening we brought down to the Lounge
.....and shared
...with Doreen and Peter who we had travelled down to Heathrow with in our shared Saga limousine.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE!!
Hope it wasn't the cake which made you sick the nest day!
